The Earthly Delights series is a collection of software works of indefinite duration that are created from a set of fixed frames and controlled live by custom software. The software edits the frames into different sequences and presents them with changing speeds and rhythms. The frames are generated with machine learning software trained on scans of vegetation collected in Colorado. The title of these works are derived from Stan Brakhage’s short film “The Garden of Earthly Delights” (1981) made from raw plant materials from the same region. These are nonlinear digital videos unconstrained from a fixed frame rate and predetermined frame sequence.
